Inventory Coordinator - Aerial & Field Solutions

Cognizant is a large IT Consulting Firm that leverages modern technologies to improve a variety of businesses. We are looking for a new Inventory Coordinator to join our team in Palo Alto. As an Inventory Coordinator, you will serve as the essential intermediary between the Field Solutions and Logistics teams. You are the linchpin ensuring that critical materials are accurately and efficiently distributed to the required locations throughout the entire product life cycle. Whether handling field repairs, supporting sensor platforms, or fulfilling production build requirements, your work directly enables our operational success. Please note that this role is fully onsite in Palo Alto. Only local candidates will be considered.

Role Responsibilities
Logistics & Distribution

  • Serve as the primary liaison with the logistics team to request and route inbound/outbound material movements for field repairs, remote refurbishments, upgrades, and builds.
  • Clearly communicate material usage and disposition needs to ensure accurate routing and compliance.
  • Request production orders and dekits to support operational changes.
  • Coordinate material movements for Repair Stations and manage material disposition at both field and hub locations.

Systems & Data Management

  • Maintain and update critical inventory data within systems such as Nostradamus and SAP.
  • Monitor the Nostradamus equipment delta dashboard for all platforms, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
  • Update systems to reflect material movements to and from repair stations, hubs, and platforms deploying to or returning from the field.
  • Review SAP Inventory Min/Max level settings and update designations to ensure they meet regional operational requirements.
  • Handle bug triage and maintenance related to inventory components (Component ID: 1004049), escalating issues to ensure operational efficiency.

Procurement & Project Coordination

  • Distribute materials as requested by project owners and interface directly with the procurement team for production builds and FS team supplies.
  • Fulfill requests from Program Managers (PgM) to create new BOM configurations for specific project requirements.
  • Maintain TLA-CB checklists and collaborate with packaging designers and testers on new packaging needs.
  • Review documentation and highlight workflow or process changes to PgMs.

Inventory Audits & Forecasting

  • Manage equipment inventory and provide quarterly forecasts for spare parts.
  • Monitor available spares at hubs, deployed spares, and Service Centers, proactively escalating projected shortages.
  • Provide technical expertise to assist logistics with Class A, B, and C GPN cycle counts.
  • Support bi-annual and annual physical inventory counts at FS facilities, including Hubs (TB55, AMS, TKZ), repair stations, labs, and partner locations.

Material Scope & Disposition: You will be expected to thoroughly understand the intended use of materials to transact them according to strict disposition guidelines. This includes:

  • Managing Field Replaceable Units (FRUs), sensor platform devices, SO-report hardware, production items, raw materials, and prototyping assets.
  • Differentiating between expense items (e.g., Engineering/NPI project materials) and standard inventory.
  • Tracking non-Google-owned equipment used alongside Google assets for external partner projects

Desired Skills & Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor's Degree is preferred
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience

Salary and Other Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is between $18.99 – $21.63 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
