The role involves system administration, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and close collaboration with application and infrastructure teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Support & Operations
• Provide L2/L3 production support for HP NonStop (Tandem) systems in a mission-critical, 24x7 environment
• Participate in on-call rotation and act as SME during high-severity incident bridges
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring incidents

Systems Administration & Engineering
• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade HP NonStop OS (Guardian/OSS) and associated subsystems
• Manage system patches, upgrades, and change implementations following standard change management (ITIL/CAB) processes
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity — leveraging tools such as MEASURE, PTrace, and EMS
• Ensure high availability, resilience, and fault-tolerance across all NonStop environments

Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution
• Analyze and resolve issues related to:

- Batch and online transaction processing environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (infrastructure, network, database, development) during production incidents and planned release cycles

Application & Performance Support
• Support application teams with performance tuning, system resource optimization, and issue diagnosis
• Assist with batch scheduling and automation using tools such as Netbatch, NSScheduler, or JAMS (as applicable)
• Guide development teams on platform-specific constraints, best practices, and architectural considerations

Documentation & Knowledge Management
• Develop and maintain system documentation including runbooks, configuration baselines, change records, and incident logs
• Educate and guide internal stakeholders on NonStop platform capabilities, operational procedures, and best practices

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with HP NonStop (Tandem) systems in an enterprise production environment
• Strong proficiency in:
- Guardian OS / OSS (Open System Services)

- EMS (Event Management System) and MEASURE/PTrace for monitoring and performance analysis
• Solid understanding of high-availability, fault-tolerant architecture principles
• Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, middleware, and application layers
• Familiarity with batch processing, scheduling tools, and automation scripting (TACL)
• Knowledge of networking, storage concepts, and distributed systems
• Experience in multi-data center / large enterprise environments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in banking, payments processing, or other mission-critical domains
• Familiarity with TACL, SCOBOL, TAL, or COBOL
• Exposure to integration with modern platforms, REST APIs, or hybrid cloud environments
• ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent service management framework knowledge
• Experience with automation and scripting to reduce manual operational toil
