About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Corporate IT team. This role will serve as the primary escalation point for Level 2 and Level 3 issues, partnering with technology service owners to resolve complex incidents, perform root cause analysis, and enhance the reliability of endpoint and infrastructure systems.

The ideal candidate brings strong engineering expertise, a problem-solving mindset, and a focus on improving the employee technology experience across a diverse enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Endpoint & Device Management

  • Manage macOS endpoints including enrollment, configuration profiles, patching, and policy enforcement using MDM tools (Jamf preferred)
  • Troubleshoot complex macOS issues and maintain endpoint compliance in partnership with security teams

Identity & Access Management

  • Administer Okta (SSO, MFA, lifecycle management, and application access)
  • Support and troubleshoot Active Directory (accounts, group policies, OUs)
  • Resolve escalated access and authentication issues

Network & Connectivity

  • Troubleshoot VPN connectivity (GlobalProtect, Zscaler ZIA/ZPA)
  • Apply networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewall rules) to diagnose issues
  • Collaborate with network and security teams on advanced escalations

Collaboration & Productivity Tools

  • Provide escalation support for Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
  • Troubleshoot and support Zoom Rooms, Zoom Phone, and AV systems

Security & Compliance

  • Enforce endpoint security standards (EDR tools, patch compliance, policies)
  • Support security incidents and compliance audits
  • Maintain IT security best practices and controls

Escalation Management & Documentation

  • Own complex cross-platform issues end-to-end
  • Act as a bridge between L1 support and engineering teams
  • Develop runbooks, knowledge base articles, and documentation to reduce repeat issues

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in IT systems engineering, endpoint management, or enterprise IT infrastructure
  • Experience handling Level 2/3 escalations in mid-to-large enterprise environments

Technical Skills

  • macOS endpoint management (Jamf preferred)
  • Okta administration
  • Microsoft 365 suite
  • Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA) and GlobalProtect VPN
  • Active Directory
  • Networking fundamentals
  • Endpoint security / EDR tools

Core Competencies

  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking approach
  • Excellent communication skills across technical and business stakeholders
  • Ability to manage incidents calmly and independently from start to resolution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira Service Management)
  • Exposure to SIEM or security incident response
  • Scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with Windows endpoint management
  • Certifications: JAMF 200/300, CompTIA Network+/Security+, Microsoft 365 Certified

The annual salary for this position is between $49,001 $90,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and is subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
