Storage, Backup & Recovery SME – Pure Storage / NetApp ONTAP / Rubrik
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Storage, Backup & Recovery Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team in the Netherlands. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, troubleshooting, and optimizing enterprise storage environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and data protection across platforms such as Pure Storage, NetApp ONTAP, and Rubrik.
You will play a critical role in ensuring robust backup and recovery operations, maintaining restore readiness, and driving operational excellence in storage infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
· Troubleshoot platform, latency, and path failures on Pure Storage and NetApp ONTAP environments
· Diagnose and resolve issues related to NFS, SMB, and object storage
· Triage and resolve backup job failures in Rubrik
· Manage recovery operations by determining the appropriate approach (snapshot restore vs. full restore)
· Maintain and continuously update a restore readiness checklist
· Execute restore validation tests and document outcomes
· Ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability of storage and backup systems
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support incident resolution and service improvements
Required Skills & Experience
· Hands-on experience with Pure Storage (FlashArray / FlashBlade) including administration and troubleshooting
· Strong expertise in NetApp ONTAP (volumes, NFS/SMB, SnapMirror)
· Proficiency in Rubrik (backup policies, job monitoring, restore workflows)
· Solid understanding of storage networking: iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, SMB, S3
· Experience in snapshot management (creation, scheduling, and restoration)
· Minimum 5+ years of experience in enterprise storage environments
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work in a hybrid environment and collaborate with distributed teams
