We're looking for a hands-on AWS FSx Storage SME to own the design, deployment, and optimisation of our cloud file storage infrastructure. You'll be the go-to expert for all Amazon FSx product lines — FSx for Windows File Server, FSx for Lustre, FSx for NetApp ONTAP, and FSx for OpenZFS — and will partner with platform, security, and application teams to ensure storage is performant, secure, and cost-efficient at scale
Role Overview FSx for Windows File Server, FSx for Lustre, FSx for NetApp ONTAP, and FSx for OpenZFS — and will partner with platform, security, and application teams to ensure storage is performant, secure, and cost-efficient at scale
Key Responsibilities
Architect, deploy, and manage Amazon FSx file systems across multiple AWS accounts and regions, including multi-AZ and cross-region replication topologies.
Lead storage capacity planning, performance tuning, and throughput optimization for FSx for Lustre (HPC/ML workloads), FSx for NetApp ONTAP (enterprise NFS/SMB), and FSx for Windows (Active Directory integration).
Define and enforce storage governance standards — encryption at rest/in-transit, IAM policies, VPC endpoint access, and backup/restore SLAs.
Automate provisioning, snapshots, and lifecycle management using Terraform/CloudFormation, AWS CLI, and custom Lambda functions.
Evaluate and implement storage tiering strategies including S3 data repository associations for FSx for Lustre.
Conduct root cause analysis for storage incidents and drive MTTR improvements through monitoring (CloudWatch, Datadog) and alerting pipelines.
Act as internal subject matter expert — run enablement sessions, produce runbooks, and support developer teams integrating with FSx endpoints.
Evaluate AWS FSx roadmap releases and advise on adoption impact for existing workloads.
Technical Skills Required
6+ years in cloud infrastructure or storage engineering, with at least 3 years hands-on with AWS FSx services in production environments.
Deep expertise across two or more FSx variants: FSx for Windows File Server, FSx for Lustre, FSx for NetApp ONTAP, FSx for OpenZFS.
Strong understanding of NFS, SMB/CIFS, iSCSI, and POSIX file system semantics.
Proficiency with IaC tools — Terraform or AWS CloudFormation — for storage resource provisioning.
Applications will be accepted until 7/15/2026
