MongoDB Developer
About the role
As a Developer specializing in MongoDB (NoSQL), Redis, ElasticSearch, NodeJS, and GenAI basics, you will make an impact by designing and implementing scalable enterprise applications that enhance customer experiences and support data-driven decisions across the organization. You will be a valued member of our engineering team and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performance services.
Work model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 4 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, Ontario. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance through our various wellbeing programs.
The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting. This may change based on the project you’re engaged in, as well as business and client requirements. Rest assured; we will always be clear about role expectations.
In this role, you will:
• Design and implement robust application components that integrate GenAI capabilities with NoSQL data stores to deliver responsive and reliable business features.
• Collaborate with product analysts and architects to translate user stories into technical designs using MongoDB patterns aligned to enterprise standards.
• Implement secure data access patterns that protect sensitive information while enabling responsible GenAI-based insights for internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests that validate GenAI prompt handling, NoSQL schema design, and data consistency under realistic scenarios.
• Troubleshoot complex production incidents by analyzing logs, queries, and GenAI responses to rapidly identify root causes and define preventive measures.
What you need to have to be considered
• 5+ years of professional software development experience with end-to-end ownership of features from design through deployment and support.
• Advanced proficiency in NodeJS or a comparable modern programming language to build modular services interfacing with GenAI endpoints and NoSQL repositories.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, Redis, and ElasticSearch, including schema design that supports high-throughput, enterprise-scale applications.
• Strong working knowledge of GenAI basics, including prompt construction, model selection, and evaluation of generated outputs for quality and bias.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts – consistency, partitioning, and replication – when designing NoSQL-backed services.
These will help you stand out
• Practical familiarity with cloud-native development practices such as containerization, continuous integration, and automated deployment.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and version control systems to maintain high code quality and reliable release cycles.
• Strong debugging and performance tuning skills to optimize queries, indexes, and GenAI calls for predictable latency in production environments.
• Knowledge of data privacy principles and ethical AI practices to design solutions that respect user rights and meet compliance requirements.
• Effective communication skills to clearly explain GenAI and NoSQL design choices to non-technical partners and stakeholders.
We’re excited to meet people who share our mission and can make an impact in a variety of ways. Don’t hesitate to apply, even if you only meet the minimum requirements listed. Think about your transferable experiences and unique skills that make you stand out as someone who can bring new and exciting things to this role.
