As a Sr. UI/UX Developer (React), you will make an impact by designing and building modern, scalable user interfaces that power high-quality digital experiences. You will be a valued member of a cross-functional engineering team and work closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and QA partners to deliver reliable solutions that meet both technical and business needs.
In this role, you will:
- Design, build, and maintain responsive, high-performance user interfaces using React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
- Develop reusable components and contribute to component-based design systems that ensure consistency and scalability across products.
- Collaborate with backend teams to integrate REST and GraphQL APIs, ensuring seamless data flow and optimal performance.
- Translate functional and non-functional requirements into clean, maintainable, and testable code.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including estimation, design reviews, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Write and execute unit test cases, support integration testing, and partner with QA and UAT teams to ensure quality releases.
- Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices.
What you need to have to be considered:
- Strong professional experience with React, with an expected skill mix of approximately 75% React and 25% Java.
- Solid experience with modern UI development, including Tailwind CSS and Shadcn/UI or similar frameworks.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Experience designing and working within component-based architectures and design systems.
- Hands-on experience integrating REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Familiarity with modern development tools and workflows, including Git, Bitbucket, build systems, and code reviews.
These will help you stand out:
- Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications.
- Hands-on exposure to Docker and Kubernetes environments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as Jenkins.

Salary and Other Compensation:
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $60,300 – $95,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
Working arrangements
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 4 days a week in a client office in Toronto, ON.
