About the role
As an Lead QA Automation Engineer – Playwright & AI, you will make an impact by building modern automation solutions and leveraging AI-driven approaches to enhance quality engineering practices. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable applications.
In this role, you will:
Develop and maintain automation scripts for UI and API testing using Playwright and modern frameworks
Design and enhance automation frameworks to improve scalability and reusability
Build and implement GenAI-driven testing solutions, including AI agents and automation accelerators
Perform test design, execution, and defect management across multiple applications
Collaborate with product, development, and QA teams to ensure quality across agile releases
Execute functional, integration, and regression testing for end-to-end validation
Provide status reporting, metrics tracking, and defect analysis to stakeholders

What you need to have to be considered
8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering / QA automation
Strong hands-on experience in Playwright (minimum 2+ years)
Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript for automation development
Experience working with test management tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (GitHub, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, etc.)
Strong experience in API testing (REST, GraphQL)
Solid experience in SQL and backend data validation
Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams
These will help you stand out
Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot
Hands-on exposure to GenAI/AI-driven testing approaches (AI agents, anomaly detection, synthetic test data)
Experience managing test coverage across multiple systems or integrations
Strong understanding of different testing types (system, integration, regression)
Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $71,100 to $112,500, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
