About the Role
As a Senior Java Full Stack Engineer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native applications that drive business outcomes through high-performance engineering, analytics, and modern software development practices. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to build innovative digital solutions.
In This Role, You Will:
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java, Python, Scala, and modern software engineering practices.
Build scalable and responsive web applications using modern front-end frameworks and technologies.
Develop and integrate APIs and microservices, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability across distributed systems.
Lead medium to large-scale engineering initiatives by translating business requirements into technical solutions and delivering high-quality code on schedule.
Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and engineering best practices.
Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions to improve system stability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, influence architecture decisions, and support business objectives.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring associate presence in a client or Cognizant office in Reston, VA or Sunnyvale, CA. What You Need to Have to Be Considered
Strong proficiency in Core Java and modern Java frameworks, including Spring and Spring Boot.
Proven experience designing, developing, and supporting large-scale, high-performance microservices architectures.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including solution design and application deployment.
Experience working with databases such as MongoDB and cloud-based data platforms.
Strong knowledge of distributed messaging technologies, including Apache Kafka.
Experience building scalable front-end applications using modern web technologies and frameworks.
Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience troubleshooting build, testing, and deployment issues.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Experience developing analytics-driven applications and optimization solutions.
Knowledge of cloud-native architecture patterns and containerized deployments.
Experience leading distributed engineering teams and mentoring developers.
Expertise in performance tuning, observability, and production support best practices.
Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
Familiarity with enterprise-scale digital transformation initiatives.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 to $93,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
