About the role
As a Guidewire Architect – Billing & Claims Platform, you will make an impact by defining and driving the technology strategy, architecture, and modernization roadmap for Guidewire BillingCenter and ClaimCenter platforms. You will be a valued member of the engineering leadership team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, engineering leaders, product teams, and technology partners to deliver scalable, resilient, and innovative insurance solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Own the technology direction, architecture roadmap, and platform strategy for Guidewire BillingCenter and ClaimCenter applications.
- Lead the organization's transition to Guidewire Cloud and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and long-term technology goals.
- Serve as the technical authority for architecture, platform design, engineering standards, and strategic technology decisions across the Guidewire ecosystem.
- Drive platform excellence by improving performance, scalability, resiliency, observability, security, and operational efficiency across production environments.
- Mentor engineers and technical leaders while promoting engineering best practices, innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

What you need to have to be considered
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a senior technical leadership, architecture, or principal engineering role.
- Extensive experience with Guidewire platforms, including BillingCenter and ClaimCenter, with demonstrated expertise in Guidewire Cloud implementations and SaaS offerings.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, distributed systems, microservices, cloud-native design patterns, and enterprise integration strategies.
- Hands-on expertise with Java, Spring Boot, Angular, SQL and NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Proven experience designing and delivering highly available, scalable, and resilient production systems.
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, observability frameworks, and platform operations.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders, lead architectural decision-making, and drive strategic technology initiatives.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required due to regular interaction with English-speaking colleagues across Canada.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. No Canadian work experience is required.

- Guidewire certifications, particularly Guidewire Cloud certifications.
- Experience evaluating and integrating Guidewire Marketplace solutions within enterprise technology ecosystems.
- Knowledge of AI/ML technologies, frameworks, and their practical application in software engineering environments.
- Experience establishing software engineering frameworks, reusable APIs, shared services, and developer enablement platforms.
- Proven track record of building technical communities, mentoring senior engineers, and fostering a culture of innovation and engineering excellence.
- Recognition as a thought leader through participation in industry forums, conferences, architecture communities, or technology publications.

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $ 120,000 - $140,000
per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
