About the role
As an AWS Data Engineer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering modern, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud-based data platforms that enable organizations to unlock the full value of their data. You will serve as a key technical leader, translating complex business requirements into enterprise-grade AWS solutions while driving engineering excellence across data modernization initiatives.
You will be a valued member of the Data & Analytics team and work collaboratively with solution architects, engineering teams, client stakeholders, product owners, and delivery leadership.
In this role, you will:
- Define and lead the architecture of enterprise data platforms, including data ingestion, storage, processing, integration, and analytics solutions.
- Design, develop, and oversee scalable data transformation frameworks using Python, PySpark, Apache Airflow, and AWS-native services.
- Lead large-scale cloud migration and modernization initiatives, leveraging AWS DMS and schema conversion tools to transition legacy environments to cloud-native architectures.
- Drive performance, scalability, reliability, and cost optimization across AWS data ecosystems, including Redshift, Athena, EMR, and related services.
- Partner with client architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to guide technical strategy, conduct architecture and code reviews, and ensure successful project delivery in complex enterprise environments.

What you need to have to be considered
- Extensive experience architecting and implementing enterprise-scale data platforms on AWS.
- Deep expertise with AWS services including Glue, Redshift, Aurora, EMR, S3, Athena, Kinesis, Lambda, and related data technologies.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, data modeling, Python, and PySpark for developing production-grade data pipelines and analytics solutions.
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing complex workflows using Apache Airflow.
- Proven success delivering large-scale database modernization and cloud migration programs.
- Strong understanding of data lake, data warehouse, and modern data architecture patterns.
- Experience leading technical teams in Agile delivery environments and mentoring engineers.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage client architects and senior technical leaders.

- Experience optimizing performance and cost efficiency across large AWS data environments.
- Expertise with Spark and Hadoop ecosystems on Amazon EMR.
- Experience working within multi-vendor technology delivery environments.
- Knowledge of enterprise governance, data quality, security, and compliance best practices.
- AWS Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Data Engineer, or related credentials.
- Proven ability to influence technical strategy from solution design through production deployment.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until August 3, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $105,000 - $120,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
