Hardware Engineering Program Manager – Android XR

Based on this role's business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Mountain View, CA.

As a Hardware Engineering Program Manager, you will make an impact by managing the development of Android XR glasses hardware platforms and driving the overall tactical execution and strategy of the team. You will lead cross-functional teams to design, build, validate, and launch system solutions while managing development risks and issues to meet system build milestones, cost, and manufacturability.

You will be a valued member of the Cognizant team and work collaboratively with the AR/VR hardware engineering teams, stakeholders, and development partners.

In this role, you will:

· Manage development of Android XR glasses hardware platforms and drive the overall tactical execution and strategy of the team.

· Lead cross-functional teams to design, build, validate, and launch system solutions.

· Manage development risks and issues to meet system build milestones, cost, and manufacturability.

· Drive product development processes and phase gate reviews with the cross-functional teams.

· Develop and manage program schedules and resource needs with engineering and operations teams.

· Communicate project status to stakeholders and leadership.

· Lead resolution on key technical issues.

· Interface with development partners and cross-functional engineering and operations teams driving builds and managing build schedules, budgets, and performance.

· Proactively implement process improvements to streamline product development.

· Travel internationally to lead development builds at supplier/manufacturing partners.

· Manage program budgets.

· Influence and drive strategic JDM partner development efforts and establish long-term partnerships.

What you need to have to be considered (Minimum Qualifications):

· BS degree in Engineering and/or equivalent experience

· 5+ years of hardware engineering program management, team lead and/or product design engineering experience.

· Consumer Electronics hardware experience.

· Experience in product development and phase gate approach.

· Experience in hardware NPI build management.

· Ability to travel internationally up to 20% as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Note: Having as many of these specific qualifications is a plus, but transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Strong team player and creative thinker who is able to lead technical teams, cross-functional groups, and vendors against plans.

· Fearless ability to jump in, drive several tasks at once, and generally do whatever it takes to ship a product.

· Experience shipping high volume / high quality product.

· Strong ability to capture the big picture quickly and focus on key points.

· Passion for improving processes, plans, and all things that are simply broken.

· Excellent knowledge of product life cycle, tools, processes and operations planning.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is between $39.00 – $41.34 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
