Senior Data Engineer – Databricks & AWS
About the role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, building, and optimizing scalable enterprise data platforms and pipelines that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will be a valued member of the Data Engineering team and work collaboratively with product owners, business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to deliver innovative and governed data solutions.
In this role, you will:
· Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks, AWS, Snowflake, and DBT.
· Build and orchestrate production-grade data ingestion frameworks, including serverless architectures leveraging AWS Lambda and Step Functions.
· Implement and support medallion architecture patterns to improve data quality, governance, and scalability.
· Integrate data from multiple lines of business systems through APIs, native connectors, and other enterprise data sources.
· Develop and optimize data warehouse solutions while ensuring alignment with enterprise data standards and governed definitions.
· Design and implement semantic data models, knowledge graphs, and ontology-driven frameworks to enable trusted and reusable business data assets.
· Provide technical leadership through architecture guidance, code reviews, engineering best practices, and mentorship of junior team members.
· Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable and sustainable technical solutions.

What you need to have to be considered
· Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, including building and orchestrating production data pipelines.
· Extensive experience with AWS services, particularly Lambda and Step Functions, for serverless data processing and orchestration.
· Experience designing and implementing medallion architecture and modern data lakehouse solutions.
· Strong expertise in Snowflake and DBT for data transformation, modeling, and analytics.
· Experience integrating data from enterprise systems using APIs, native connectors, and other ingestion frameworks.
· Solid understanding of data warehouse architecture, data modeling, and data governance best practices.
· Experience translating business needs into scalable technical solutions and partnering effectively with business stakeholders.
· Proven ability to lead technical discussions, conduct code reviews, and mentor engineering teams.
These will help you stand out
· Experience with knowledge graphs, ontology modeling, and semantic layer design.
· Understanding of enterprise data governance frameworks and master data management principles.
· Experience establishing governed, shared business definitions across complex organizations.
· Knowledge of modern data architecture patterns and cloud-native data engineering best practices.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and business audiences.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until August 21, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $100,000 - $155,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
