Cognizant is looking for a SQL Database Administrator for installation, configuration, administration, monitoring, security, performance, and availability of Microsoft SQL Server databases in production and non-production environments to manage mission-critical SQL Server environments and collaborate with application teams to ensure optimal database performance and reliability.

What you’ll do in the role:
- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch SQL Server instances.
- Manage database backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.
- Configure and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions such as:
- Always On Availability Groups
- Log Shipping
- Replication
- Database Mirroring
- Failover Clustering
- DAG
- Transparent Data Encryption
- Monitor database health, performance, and availability.
- Troubleshoot performance issues, blocking, deadlocks, and replication failures.
- Perform query tuning, index optimization, and database maintenance activities.
- Manage security, including logins, users, roles, permissions, encryption, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor SQL Agent Jobs, Alerts, Maintenance Plans, and backups.
- Conduct capacity planning for CPU, memory, storage, and database growth.
- Support database migrations, upgrades, and cloud deployments (Azure SQL/AWS RDS).
- Create automation scripts using T-SQL and PowerShell.
- Work with application teams during releases, deployments, and production incidents.
- Provide 24x7 production support and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
