Senior Cloud Architect

About the role

As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will make an impact by designing, architecting, and optimizing cloud-native enterprise solutions that improve reliability, scalability, security, and performance across AWS and Azure environments. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that support transportation and logistics operations.

In this role, you will:

• Architect and design scalable cloud-native applications using Java and Angular across AWS and Azure platforms.
• Lead the development of secure, high-performing enterprise solutions that support critical business processes and integrations.
• Define cloud architecture standards, security best practices, and modernization strategies to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
• Drive automation through CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure best practices, and cloud-native monitoring solutions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and guide cloud migration and modernization initiatives.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days per week in a Cognizant or client office in Mississauga, Ontario. What you need to have to be considered

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud architecture, and enterprise application development.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing cloud-native enterprise applications using Java and Angular.
• Hands-on expertise with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
• Strong experience developing secure and scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed systems using Core Java.
• Proven ability to architect cloud solutions with a focus on performance, resiliency, observability, and cost optimization.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and production monitoring solutions.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical architectures.

These will help you stand out

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
• Experience leading cloud migration, modernization, or transformation initiatives.
• Experience supporting transportation, logistics, or supply chain platforms.
• Knowledge of cloud security, identity management, governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience mentoring engineering teams and providing architectural leadership across complex programs.

Salary and Other Compensation
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD $100,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
