Business Development Representative
About the role
As a Business Development Representative, you will make an impact by identifying and qualifying new business opportunities, building relationships with prospective customers, and fueling the growth of our sales pipeline. We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our dynamic sales team. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator with a passion for sales, technology, and customer engagement.
In this role, you will
- Generate qualified sales opportunities through outbound prospecting, including cold calling, email campaigns, networking, and social selling.
- Research and identify target accounts within assigned territories, industries, or market segments, and engage prospects to understand their business challenges, goals, and operational needs.
- Qualify leads using established sales methodologies such as BANT or MEDDIC, and schedule introductory meetings for the sales team with qualified prospects.
- Maintain accurate records of activities, leads, and opportunities within CRM systems, and collaborate with Marketing and Sales to improve lead generation and conversion strategies.
- Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly targets for qualified opportunities, meetings, and pipeline contribution while staying informed on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies.

What you need to have to be considered
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, with 3 to 5 years of experience in sales, business development, lead generation, or customer-facing roles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills, combined with a self-motivated, proactive, and goal-oriented mindset.
- Hands-on experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, HubSpot, or similar tools.
- Ability to quickly learn technical concepts and effectively communicate business value propositions.
These will help you stand out
- Experience in B2B technology, software, SaaS, or professional services sales.
- Knowledge of Automation, AI, RPA, Cloud, Data Analytics, or Digital Transformation solutions.
- Familiarity with sales methodologies such as MEDDIC, Challenger Sale, SPIN Selling, or Consultative Selling.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and performance metrics.
- Experience using sales engagement and prospecting platforms such as Sales Navigator, Outreach, ZoomInfo, or Apollo.

Salary and Other Compensation

- The annual salary for this position is between $65,000 - $93,500 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
- This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
