About the role
As a Gen AI Developer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, secure, and intelligent enterprise solutions powered by large language models (LLMs). You will be a valued member of the engineering team, collaborating with architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders to build next-generation AI-driven applications that enhance search, automation, and user experience.
In this role, you will:
Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure cloud architectures leveraging LLMs from OpenAI and Google
Build and deploy GenAI applications using LangChain, LangGraph, vector databases, and embeddings for enterprise search and automation
Develop and maintain cloud-native solutions across Azure and/or Google Cloud to support AI-driven applications
Integrate LLM models into enterprise systems to improve user experience, decision-making, and search capabilities
Provide technical leadership and mentorship, promoting best practices in AI engineering, cloud architecture, and secure development

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3–4 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Washington, DC. What you need to have to be considered
6–8 years of experience in AI, machine learning, or related fields
Strong proficiency in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
Hands-on experience with generative AI, NLP, and LLM-based applications
Experience building solutions using LangChain, LangGraph, vector databases, and embeddings
Proven expertise in cloud platforms, particularly Azure (Functions, API Management, Service Bus, Cosmos DB, Data Factory, Cognitive Services, Databricks, Data Lake) and/or Google Cloud
Experience designing scalable, secure enterprise architectures and integrating AI solutions into production environments
Strong understanding of monitoring, logging, and performance optimization using tools such as Splunk or Application Insights
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field
These will help you stand out
Experience building Agentic AI systems or multi-agent workflows
Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
Familiarity with enterprise security, compliance, and data governance in AI solutions
Experience working with distributed systems in public and private cloud environments
Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until June 28, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $ 115,000 - $ 130,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
