Job Summary
This hybrid role is for a Lead Developer with strong experience in spatial databases and GIS development responsible for designing and delivering robust map centric solutions using MySQL Spatial PostgreSQL PostGIS ArcGIS Experience Builder and FME. The role focuses on high quality implementation for utilities and related domains with day shifts and no travel requirement.
Responsibilities
- Design spatially enabled applications that integrate MySQL Spatial PostgreSQL PostGIS and ArcGIS Experience Builder to deliver reliable and scalable mapping solutions for business users in a hybrid work environment.
- Develop reusable GIS components and services that support complex spatial analysis routing and geoprocessing workflows while maintaining high performance and data integrity.
- Coordinate with product owners and business analysts to translate geospatial requirements into detailed technical designs that align with organizational standards and project timelines.
- Implement robust data models for spatial datasets by optimizing schemas indexes and relationships in MySQL Spatial and PostgreSQL PostGIS to support efficient query execution.
- Configure and extend ArcGIS Experience Builder to create intuitive web mapping applications that provide accessible spatial insights for internal and external stakeholders.
- Create and maintain FME workflows to automate spatial data transformation validation and integration between diverse systems ensuring consistent and trusted geospatial data pipelines.
- Apply GIS development best practices to implement secure maintainable and testable code bases emphasizing code reviews unit tests and clear documentation for project sustainability.
- Optimize spatial queries and map services by monitoring performance metrics tuning configurations and refactoring logic to improve response times and resource usage.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and database teams to ensure that spatial services are properly deployed monitored and scaled within on premise or cloud environments as required.
- Provide guidance to team members on spatial data handling projection management and geoprocessing patterns so that solutions remain accurate consistent and aligned with domain needs.
- Support utilities focused solutions by incorporating asset locations network geometries and field data into GIS applications that improve reliability planning and customer service outcomes.
- Engage with quality assurance teams to design comprehensive test scenarios covering spatial edge cases so that map centric features behave predictably under real world conditions.
- Document solution architectures data flows and deployment procedures in clear technical references that support knowledge sharing audits and long term maintainability.
- Communicate progress risks and technical decisions to stakeholders in a concise manner that connects GIS capabilities with business value and societal impact through better spatial insight.
Qualifications
- Combine ten to twelve years of professional experience with a strong focus on spatial application development and database driven GIS solutions in enterprise environments.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in MySQL Spatial by designing schemas indexes and spatial queries that support complex geospatial operations and reporting needs.
- Exhibit deep knowledge of PostgreSQL PostGIS including spatial functions reprojection handling and performance tuning for large geodatabases.
- Show hands on experience with ArcGIS Experience Builder by configuring widgets data sources and layouts that deliver modern and accessible web mapping applications.
- Illustrate capability with FME by building robust data transformation workflows that handle diverse geospatial formats and automate regular data synchronization tasks.
- Display practical GIS development skills across server side and client side components with emphasis on APIs web services and integration with enterprise applications.
- Apply understanding of utilities domain concepts such as networks assets and service areas to design GIS solutions that support operations planning and regulatory reporting.
- Operate effectively in a hybrid work model by using collaboration tools version control and structured communication practices to maintain productivity and alignment.
- Commit to continuous learning in spatial technologies database features and GIS standards in order to keep solutions modern resilient and beneficial for customers and communities.
