Job Summary
Cognizant is seeking an experienced Pharmacovigilance Team Leader to oversee daily pharmacovigilance operations, ensure timely completion of safety case processing activities, and lead a high-performing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for workflow management, team performance, training compliance, and operational excellence while ensuring adherence to client requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Ensure completion of all day-to-day pharmacovigilance activities and timely closure of all assigned cases.
- Manage case allocation and distribution across team members to achieve operational targets.
- Monitor timely updates of trackers, workflow reports, and metrics reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely capture of operational metrics and performance indicators.
- Review daily workflow reports and proactively address any bottlenecks or risks.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to obtain information required for smooth day-to-day operations.
- Ensure compliance with established processes, quality standards, and client requirements.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and support team members to achieve individual and team objectives.
- Ensure completion of required training plans and maintain team training compliance.
- Monitor team productivity, quality, and adherence to SLAs.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and regular performance feedback to team members.
- Drive team engagement and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Support continuous learning and professional development initiatives.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation of best practices.
- Ensure knowledge sharing within the team and promote continuous product knowledge updates.
- Coordinate problem-solving initiatives and support resolution of operational challenges.
- Contribute to maintaining a culture of quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Pharmacovigilance / Drug Safety operations.
- Minimum 1 year of people management or team leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in case processing, case review, workflow management, and team coordination.
- Experience working in a regulated healthcare, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environment is preferred.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences or Non-Life Sciences; OR
- Master's Degree or PhD in Healthcare-related disciplines such as:
- Pharmacy
- Medicine
- Alternative Medicine
- Nursing
- Life Sciences
Language Requirements
Japanese
- Native-level Japanese proficiency; or
- Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 or equivalent.
English
- Business-level English proficiency (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking).
- TOEIC score of 750 or above preferred.
- Candidates educated at an overseas university are highly desirable.
