About the role
As a DevOps Engineer – Python/Azure, you will make an impact by designing, automating, and optimizing cloud infrastructure and deployment processes that enable secure, scalable, and reliable application delivery. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with developers, cloud architects, infrastructure teams, and security stakeholders to accelerate software delivery while maintaining operational excellence.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 4 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Halifax, NS. In this role, you will:
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to support automated and reliable application deployments.
- Manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices with Terraform and related automation tools.
- Deploy, monitor, and support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
- Partner with development and security teams to integrate security controls, compliance checks, and best practices into deployment pipelines.
- Automate operational processes through scripting and configuration management tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, and application performance issues across cloud environments.
- Support platform reliability, availability, and scalability initiatives across enterprise applications.
What you need to have to be considered
- 5+ years of experience working in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Infrastructure Automation roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with GitHub, Jenkins, Terraform, and Ansible.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for enterprise applications.
- Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting for automation and operational tasks.
- Hands-on experience managing cloud environments within Microsoft Azure.
- Experience deploying and managing containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure automation, monitoring, and deployment best practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across development, operations, and security teams.
These will help you stand out
- Experience with Databricks and data platform deployments.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and security automation.
- Experience supporting highly available, large-scale cloud environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
- Azure certifications or other relevant cloud certifications.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 - $95,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
