Job Summary
Service Manager role in a global technology organization focused on delivering resilient Spring Boot microservices and Core Java platforms for property and casualty insurance clients in a hybrid work model with rotational shifts ensuring reliable application support service continuity and continuous improvement across complex policy and claims ecosystems while aligning with business and regulatory expectations.
Responsibilities
- Manage end to end application support for Spring Boot and Core Java microservices that power property and casualty insurance policy and claims processes ensuring stable performance and predictable service outcomes in a hybrid work model.
- Oversee incident management for production microservices environments by coordinating diagnosis of root causes across application and integration layers to reduce recurring issues and protect critical insurance operations.
- Ensure adherence to service level objectives for availability response time and resolution by defining clear support playbooks and aligning support teams and stakeholders on measurable service expectations.
- Coordinate rotational shift operations for the service function including workload balancing and handover practices so that microservices platforms remain continuously supported across business hours and after hours windows.
- Monitor application health using enterprise observability tools by tracking key performance indicators for Spring Boot and Core Java services and proactively initiating corrective actions before business impact occurs.
- Drive structured problem management for complex defects in insurance workflows by organizing cross functional analysis across development testing and operations teams to deliver durable fixes and improve platform resilience.
- Collaborate closely with product owners and business analysts in property and casualty insurance to refine service priorities ensuring that support capacity focuses on high impact policy rating underwriting and claims service areas.
- Guide change management activities for microservices releases by reviewing deployment plans assessing operational risk and validating post release stability to protect underwriting and claims processing continuity.
- Establish standardized runbooks and knowledge artifacts for recurring incidents and service requests in the insurance domain enabling quicker resolution times and consistent responses from all support personnel.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and security teams to maintain compliant and secure environments for microservices based insurance platforms ensuring that configuration changes and patches do not disrupt service quality.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the service function by analyzing incident trends identifying systemic gaps and sponsoring enhancements that streamline customer service processes for insurance clients.
- Align service operations with organizational purpose by ensuring reliable technology support that helps communities and businesses recover from insured events through timely policy servicing and claims handling.
Qualifications
- Possess strong hands on background in Core Java and Spring Boot development enabling effective oversight of microservices troubleshooting and meaningful guidance to technical teams during complex incident resolution.
- Demonstrate proven experience designing and supporting microservices architectures including service orchestration integration patterns and performance tuning tailored to high volume insurance transactions.
- Bring deep domain expertise in property and casualty insurance spanning policy lifecycle underwriting rating billing and claims so that service decisions reflect regulatory requirements and business sensitivities.
- Apply advanced understanding of hybrid working practices rotational shift models and remote collaboration tools to maintain consistent communication and operational continuity across distributed support teams.
- Showcase mature skills in incident and problem management including use of structured frameworks escalation paths and root cause analysis techniques that drive sustainable improvements in service reliability.
- Utilize strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities to engage business users technology partners and senior managers with clear status updates risk explanations and remediation plans for service issues.
- Exhibit solid familiarity with configuration management release processes and environment management for Java and microservices platforms enabling safe deployment of changes in regulated insurance contexts.
- Display competency with monitoring and logging solutions for microservices such as metrics dashboards and log analysis that support proactive detection and diagnosis of production challenges.
- Possess experience with documenting operational procedures creating detailed runbooks and maintaining support knowledge bases that help new and existing staff execute tasks consistently.
- Show strong analytical and decision making abilities to prioritize incidents service requests and enhancement demands based on business value customer impact and platform risk within property and casualty insurance.
Certifications Required
Preferred certifications include Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer and relevant insurance certifications such as AINS from The Institutes.
