Senior DevOps Engineer (Python & GitHub Platform) - Hybrid

In this role, you will
- Design develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Create reusable and scalable GitHub workflow templates for build, test, deployment and release automation
- Develop automation solutions using Python scripting for operational tasks, infrastructure management and DevOps workflows
- Integrate GitHub with external tools and platforms through APIs and automation frameworks
- Implement branch management, code quality gates, security scanning and deployment governance within CI/CD pipelines
- Troubleshoot and optimize build and deployment process to improve reliability and performance
- Manage and maintain GitHub repositories, permissions, secrets, and workflow configurations
- Ensure adherence to DevSecOps, security, compliance and operational standards
- Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and automation guidelines

What you need to have to be considered
Primary Skills:
- Strong experience with Githib Actions and workflow development
- Hands -on expertise in CI/CD pipeline implementation and automation
- Proficiency in Python scripting
- Experience with GitHub APIs and workflow integrations
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles and software delivery lifecycle
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting
- Knowledge of version control systems, especially Git and GitHub
Secondary Skills:
- Experience with cloud platform such as Azure, AWS or GCP
- Knowledge of infrastructure as Code (terraform, ARM, Cloud Formation, etc.)
- Familiarity with Docker and container-based deployment
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools
- Understanding of security best practices in CI/CD and DevSecOps
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, information technology, Engineering or a related field
- 4+ YOE in DevOps, CI/CD or platform Engineering roles
- Proven experience implementing enterprise scale automation using GitHub Actions and Python
Preferred Experience:
- GitHub Enterprise Cloud (GHEC) environment experience
- Workflow orchestration and reusable workflow frameworks
- Repository migration and automation projects
- Enterprise DevOps transformation initiatives
- DevSecOps and platform engineering environments
These will help you stand out:
- GitHub Actions reusable workflows experience
- Python automation frameworks
- Terraform certification or cloud certifications (Azure/AWS/GCP)
- Experience with SonarQube, Artifactory, Nexus, or similar DevOps tools

Total compensation
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $49,000 – $95,500 (CAD) per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
