About the role
As an Automation lead with Selenium and Java/Playwright (Automation), you will make an impact by driving end-to-end quality assurance strategies with a focus on UI and API automation. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders, including onsite and offshore teams, product owners, and clients.
In this role, you will:
· Lead automation efforts for UI and API testing using modern frameworks and tools
· Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, REST Assured)
· Coordinate with onsite and offshore teams to ensure seamless delivery and communication
· Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
· Drive in-sprint and regression automation to improve release quality and efficiency
Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Charlotte, NC. What you need to have to be considered
· 10+ years of experience in Quality Engineering and Assurance
· 8+ years of hands-on experience in UI and API automation
· Strong expertise in Core Java, Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, and REST Assured
· Experience working with CI/CD tools and automation pipelines
· Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and test management platforms (ALM / Quality Center)
· Proven ability to lead teams, coordinate globally, and manage client communication effectively
These will help you stand out
· Experience with Playwright or modern automation frameworks
· Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
· Ability to drive test strategy and continuous improvement initiatives
· Experience managing end-to-end test lifecycle across distributed teams
· Exposure to scalable automation solutions in enterprise environments

Salary and Other Compensation:
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
