Data Business Analyst (Insurance Domain)

About the role:

As a Data Business Analyst, you will make an impact by enabling data-driven decision-making across insurance operations through analysis, insights, and quality assurance. You will be a valued member of the data and analytics team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders including underwriters, actuaries, claims teams, and technology partners.

In this role, you will:

  • Analyze insurance data (claims, policies, customer behavior) to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for business improvement

  • Gather and translate business requirements into clear functional and technical specifications

  • Develop dashboards and reports to support strategic and operational decision-making

  • Lead and execute testing strategies (system, integration, regression, UAT) to ensure data and application quality

  • Drive data quality, governance, and compliance initiatives across insurance platforms

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring a few days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, ON. What you need to have to be considered:

  • 4–8 years of experience as a Data Business Analyst, preferably within the insurance domain

  • Strong experience working with insurance data (claims, underwriting, policy administration)

  • Proficiency in SQL and data analysis tools; experience with Azure DevOps or similar platforms

  • Proven ability to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications

  • Hands-on experience with test strategy development and execution across multiple testing phases

  • Experience in data profiling, cleansing, validation, and ensuring data integrity

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business and technical teams

These will help you stand out:

  • Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)

  • Knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance requirements

  • Exposure to data governance frameworks and best practices

  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data quality and usability.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until June 14, 2026.

The annual salary for this position is between $ 98,000 - $ 110,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
