Job Title: Business Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our team in Hartford, CT. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and delivery teams to gather, analyze, and drive requirements through the full delivery lifecycle. This role requires strong communication, documentation expertise, and the ability to bridge business and technical teams in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $90,000 to $103,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
In this role, you will
Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements
Translate business needs into clear, structured user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria
Facilitate meetings, workshops, and discussions to ensure alignment between business and technology teams
Manage and maintain product backlogs, including backlog grooming and prioritization
Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
Utilize tools like Jira and Confluence for requirement management, documentation, and tracking progress
Prepare detailed documentation including requirement documents, status reports, and process workflows
Support delivery teams throughout the development lifecycle to ensure requirements are well understood and accurately implemented
Coordinate with engineering teams to understand release processes and ensure smooth delivery cycles
What you’ll need to succeed (required skills)
6–8 years of experience as a Business Analyst in enterprise environments
Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum frameworks
Hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence for requirement and backlog management
Proven ability to create high-quality documentation, including user stories, BRDs, FRDs, and reports
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
Working knowledge of DevOps tools such as:
Jenkins
Argo CD
Git
CI/CD pipelines
Understanding of software release cycles and DevOps practices (coordination-level knowledge; no coding required)
