About the role
As a Senior .NET Microservices Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and maintaining scalable cloud-native applications that support business-critical solutions. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, product owners, DevOps engineers, and fellow developers to deliver high-quality software solutions using modern Microsoft technologies and cloud platforms.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 4 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Halifax, NS. In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust .NET microservices that support scalable and high-performing applications.
- Create, optimize, and support MongoDB database components, ensuring data integrity, performance, and reliability.
- Develop and maintain Azure cloud services and infrastructure components to support application deployment and operations.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while following established development standards and best practices.
- Perform code reviews, promote development excellence, and ensure compliance with coding and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application performance issues, production defects, and system reliability concerns.
- Collaborate within Agile teams and actively participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
What you need to have to be considered
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing applications using .NET and Microservices architecture.
- Strong experience working with MongoDB, including database design, optimization, and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with Azure services, including App Services, Kubernetes, and cloud-native application deployment.
- Strong understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
- Experience developing scalable, secure, and maintainable enterprise applications.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Experience working within Agile development environments and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
These will help you stand out
- Experience working with Graph Databases such as Neo4j.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes.
- Experience designing event-driven or distributed application architectures.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and cloud automation.
- Microsoft Azure certifications or other relevant cloud certifications.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 - $95,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
