About the role
As an Atlassian Migration Architect, you will lead the technical architecture and migration strategy for Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence environments. You will drive enterprise-scale Data Center to Cloud migrations, establish governance and operating models, and serve as the primary technical advisor for clients throughout the migration lifecycle. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with client leaders, architects, and strategic partners.

In this role, you will

  • Own the technical architecture and migration strategy for Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence.
  • Assess existing environments, including product versions, data volumes, workflows, permissions, integrations, and migration readiness.
  • Define Atlassian Cloud Enterprise architecture, governance standards, environment design, and identity integration strategies.
  • Design migration waves, pilot approaches, cutover plans, rollback strategies, and reconciliation processes.
  • Lead JCMA and CCMA discovery workshops, migration rehearsals, and technical issue resolution.
  • Establish standards for workflows, templates, issue types, fields, permissions, naming conventions, and governance controls.
  • Design governed self-service and delegated administration models with appropriate approval and access controls.
  • Assess marketplace applications and integration dependencies to support migration planning and risk mitigation.
  • Define migration acceptance criteria and ensure data integrity, traceability, testing, and client sign-off.

What you need to have to be considered

  • 8 or more years of hands-on experience architecting and administering enterprise Atlassian environments, including Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence.
  • Proven experience leading Atlassian Data Center to Cloud migrations using JCMA and CCMA, including discovery, rehearsal, cutover, and post-migration validation activities.
  • Experience defining Atlassian Cloud Enterprise architecture, governance models, environment strategies, and operating frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of identity and access management integrations, including Okta, SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, and Atlassian Guard.
  • Deep understanding of Jira and Confluence standardization, including workflows, schemes, templates, permissions, naming conventions, and governance best practices.
  • Experience designing migration wave strategies, pilot migrations, rollback plans, and reconciliation processes.
  • Experience evaluating marketplace applications and integration dependencies, including tools such as ScriptRunner, JMWE, Refined, Slack, Zendesk, and PagerDuty.
  • Strong understanding of data integrity controls, migration traceability, technical acceptance criteria, and sign-off processes.
  • Ability to confidently lead architecture discussions and make technical decisions directly with client stakeholders.

These will help you stand out

  • Atlassian certifications such as ACP-120 Jira Administration for Cloud, ACP-100 Jira Administration for Data Center, or Atlassian Cloud Organization Admin.
  • Experience designing governed self-service and delegated administration models within large enterprise environments.
  • Experience leading complex Atlassian Cloud Enterprise transformation programs.
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until September 14, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $114,000 - $130,000 USD depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
