Job Summary
The Test Manager role focuses on planning coordinating and executing end to end testing for complex enterprise applications with specialization in WebServices Testing and API testing using tools such as Postman and SoapUI ensuring high quality releases that support reliable billing and revenue processes in a collaborative office based environment.
Responsibilities
- Drive comprehensive test strategy and planning activities for complex WebServices Testing and API testing initiatives to ensure robust coverage across functional integration and regression scenarios for enterprise applications.
- Coordinate end to end test execution cycles for Rest API and backend services ensuring alignment of test activities with sprint goals release milestones and overall project timelines in a structured office based environment.
- Design detailed test cases and reusable test suites for API testing using Postman and SoapUI focusing on request response validation payload structures and error handling to improve product reliability.
- Execute manual and automated test scenarios for Rest API endpoints while monitoring performance indicators such as response time and throughput to identify bottlenecks and potential defects early.
- Validate data integrity and business rules by crafting complex SQL queries for backend database verification ensuring that upstream and downstream systems maintain consistent and accurate transactional data.
- Collaborate closely with development architecture and business analysis teams during requirement grooming to clarify service contracts interface specifications and acceptance criteria for all WebServices.
- Review technical specifications and API documentation to derive test conditions that address edge cases security aspects and data validation rules thereby minimizing production defects and improving customer satisfaction.
- Manage defect lifecycle activities from logging to closure ensuring accurate root cause information prioritization based on impact and timely resolution in partnership with engineering and product stakeholders.
- Monitor and report key quality metrics such as defect density test coverage and execution progress to provide transparent status updates and data driven insights for release readiness decisions.
- Implement reusable frameworks and standards for WebServices Testing and API testing that promote consistency in test design naming conventions data management and documentation across multiple projects.
- Mentor and guide junior test engineers in best practices for API testing SQL based validation and usage of tools like Postman and SoapUI to build a strong quality focused team culture.
- Coordinate with environment and configuration teams to ensure stable test environments controlled test data sets and proper version management for services under test.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing defect trends process gaps and tooling limitations and by proposing pragmatic enhancements that improve test efficiency and accuracy.
Support domain focused validation activities for Billing and Revenue Management scenarios by ensuring that rating invoicing and revenue recognition flows are thoroughly verified for correctness.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate proficiency in WebServices Testing and API testing including hands on experience validating Rest API endpoints response codes and payload structures using industry standard tools.
- Apply strong SQL skills to perform complex joins aggregations and validations that confirm data accuracy across multiple database tables supporting transactional and reporting needs.
- Utilize Postman for designing collections parameterized requests and environment configurations that streamline repeatable API test execution and collaboration.
- Use SoapUI to validate Soap based and Rest based web services by designing detailed test suites assertions and data driven tests aligned to business workflows.
- Bring working knowledge of Billing and Revenue Management processes enabling effective validation of charging rating billing cycles and revenue accounting flows where applicable.
- Exhibit experience managing test activities for 14 to 16 years in complex enterprise environments ensuring adherence to quality standards regulatory expectations and client commitments.
- Operate effectively in a work from office model in a day shift setting collaborating closely with cross functional teams to address issues rapidly without requiring travel.
- Maintain strong communication and documentation abilities to produce clear test plans execution reports and defect summaries that support informed decision making by stakeholders.
- Apply understanding of secure coding expectations and service level objectives when designing test coverage to ensure resilient and reliable services for end users and partners.
- Adopt structured problem solving techniques to investigate environment issues intermittent service failures and data discrepancies leading to timely corrective action.
Engage with product owners and business partners to refine acceptance criteria and user expectations ensuring that test outcomes reflect real world usage patterns and service dependencies.
