About the Role
As a Cloud Infrastructure DevOps Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, implementing, and optimizing secure, scalable cloud infrastructure solutions across complex AWS environments. You will leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, containerization, and cloud governance best practices to support enterprise-scale platforms. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team, working closely with architecture, security, networking, and application delivery teams.

In this role, you will

  • Design, build, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform, OpenTofu, and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Manage and govern multi-account AWS environments using AWS Organizations and enterprise governance frameworks.
  • Design and support AWS networking solutions including VPCs, Transit Gateway (TGW), Direct Connect, VPNs, Route 53, Security Groups, and Network ACLs.
  • Implement and maintain IAM security controls including roles, policies, permission boundaries, IAM Identity Center (SSO), and federated identity integrations.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent automation platforms.
  • Build, deploy, and manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and operational tasks using Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Embed security controls throughout the software development lifecycle, adhering to Secure SDLC best practices.
  • Utilize Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) tools to identify, remediate, and continuously improve cloud security posture.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, identity, security, and deployment challenges while maintaining operational excellence and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, and application teams to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable cloud solutions.

What you need to have to be considered

  • Strong hands-on expertise across core AWS services, including IAM, VPC, Route 53, CloudFormation, AWS Organizations, Direct Connect, and container services.
  • Expert-level experience with AWS CloudFormation, including Stacks, StackSets, troubleshooting, debugging, remediation, and production support.
  • Production experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, OpenTofu, and CloudFormation.
  • Hands-on experience managing and governing enterprise-scale multi-account AWS environments through AWS Organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS networking concepts including VPC, Transit Gateway (TGW), Direct Connect, VPN, Route 53, Security Groups, and Network ACLs (NACLs).
  • Deep understanding of IAM, IAM Roles, Policies, Permission Boundaries, IAM Identity Center (SSO), Federated Identity, and access governance best practices.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar automation technologies.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and supporting Docker and Kubernetes workloads in production environments.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining security controls throughout the Secure SDLC lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) tools and cloud security best practices.
  • Strong scripting, automation, and troubleshooting capabilities using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or other programming languages.

These will help you stand out

  • Experience leading or supporting large-scale cloud transformation and modernization initiatives.
  • AWS certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Advanced Networking, DevOps Engineer, or Security Specialty.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services and multi-cloud environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to resolve complex cloud issues, mentor team members, and collaborate effectively across teams.

Total compensation
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $108,000.00 – 125,000.00 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
