Job Title: ADMS Technology/ System Engineer

Role Overview

The ADMS Technology Engineer is responsible for the complete technology lifecycle of Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), including design, configuration, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and operational support. The role works closely with Business Analysts, Product Managers, System Operators, Cybersecurity teams, Network teams, Vendors, and other technical stakeholders to ensure reliable and efficient grid operations.

The engineer may support both new ADMS implementations and production support environments, focusing on system performance, integrations, troubleshooting, upgrades, and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

1. Solution Design & Implementation

  • Analyze business requirements, operational workflows, and user needs to create technical designs and implementation plans.
  • Configure and implement ADMS applications, modules, and integrated solutions.
  • Support deployment of new features, upgrades, patches, enhancements, and defect fixes across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Configure workstations, applications, and system components to meet operational and project requirements.

2. System Administration & Support

  • Monitor system health, performance, and operational reports to ensure service reliability and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues through log analysis, trace review, configuration validation, and change verification.
  • Perform workstation and server patching on Windows and Linux environments.
  • Maintain environment readiness and support command-line configurations when required.

3. Production Support & Issue Resolution

  • Investigate escalated incidents and perform root cause analysis.
  • Develop and implement both short-term fixes and long-term corrective actions.
  • Support end users with login issues, password resets, system access requests, and functional inquiries.
  • Ensure timely resolution of system defects and operational issues.

4. Systems Integration & Testing

  • Support testing and validation of interfaces between:
    • SCADA
    • OMS (Outage Management System)
    • GIS (Geographic Information System)
    • DMS (Distribution Management System)
    • Historian Systems
    • ICCP Interfaces
    • Enterprise Data Integrations
  • Validate data accuracy, availability, and system interoperability.

5. Technical Reviews & Documentation

  • Conduct peer reviews of technical designs, configurations, implementation plans, code, and deployment artifacts.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies and enterprise standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, troubleshooting guides, and operational runbooks.

6. Infrastructure & Virtualization

  • Work with virtualized environments such as VMware vCenter.
  • Support system provisioning, monitoring, maintenance, and resource management.
  • Understand and work with:
    • Network topology diagrams
    • LAN/IP schemas
    • Firewall configurations
    • Server architecture diagrams
    • Interface specifications

7. Reporting & Analytics

  • Create and maintain operational reports and dashboards.
  • Develop Power BI reports to support operational monitoring and business decision-making.

8. Stakeholder Communication

  • Coordinate with operations teams, project teams, cybersecurity, network teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Communicate system status, deployment activities, risks, and issue resolutions effectively.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $118K - $131 K depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
