About the role

As a Senior Manager – Capital Markets Domain Consultant, you will make an impact by leading the discovery, design, and delivery of core post-trade functional capabilities that are being rebuilt from the mainframe for the client's institutional brokerage business. You will be a valued leader within the Banking & Financial Services Consulting team and work collaboratively with Managing Directors, Operations, Engineering teams, and senior client stakeholders - owning workstreams, mentoring consultants, and shaping target-state solutions.

What You'll Do / Responsibilities

  • Lead and own one or more capability workstreams across the capital markets post-trade program, driving discovery and reverse engineering of existing mainframe capabilities.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the client's Managing Directors, Operations, and Engineering leadership - guiding critical design decisions and resolving complex functional trade-offs.

  • Translate deep domain expertise in the securities trade lifecycle (with a focus on middle and back office) into actionable business rules, target-state designs, and roadmaps.

  • Oversee the production of excellent written specifications, acceptance criteria, and evidence packs - ensuring quality and consistency across the team.

  • Champion the use of AI-enabled approaches to accelerate discovery and reverse engineering across the identified capability areas.

  • Mentor and develop Senior Associates and Associates on the team; manage delivery against scope, timeline, and quality commitments.

  • Contribute to practice-building activities including proposal development, thought leadership, and client relationship expansion.

What You Must Have / Qualifications

  • 8+ years of overall professional experience in capital markets, financial services operations, consulting, technology transformation or related areas.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in capital markets post-trade, operations or consulting within a broker-dealer, clearing firm, custodian or investment bank.

  • Proven track record leading large, complex transformation or modernization programs for Tier 1 investment banks or similar financial institutions.

  • Deep hands-on experience across multiple of the following key capability domains:

  • Equities Trade Processing & Clearing

  • US Listed Options Transaction Processing

  • Margin & Risk

  • Financing

  • Custody

  • Ledgers, Journals & Cash Management

  • Tax, Billing, Fees & Commissions

  • Regulatory Reporting & Continuity

  • Settlements, Confirmations & Physical Settlement

  • Client Reporting, P&L & Portal

  • Reference Data & Client Onboarding

  • Experience leading programs whose objective is to rebuild functional capabilities that currently run on the mainframe for the institutional brokerage business of a large investment bank.

  • Deep understanding of how the above capabilities are built on systems, along with the underlying business rules - able to challenge, validate, and architect at a senior level.

  • Expert-level understanding of the securities trade lifecycle with authoritative expertise in the middle and back office.

  • Fluency with AI-enabled approaches for discovery and reverse engineering, and the ability to shape how teams apply them at scale.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to produce and quality-review specifications, acceptance criteria, and evidence packs for senior audiences.

  • Demonstrated success engaging and influencing Managing Directors, Operations, and Engineering executives.

  • Experience managing, mentoring, and growing consulting teams.
