About the role
As a Senior DeltaV Automation Lead, you will make an impact by leading the planning, execution, and modernization of DeltaV Operate-to-DeltaV Live conversion initiatives within regulated Life Sciences manufacturing environments. You will be a valued member of the Manufacturing and Digital Operations team and work collaboratively with client stakeholders, automation engineers, validation teams, project leadership, and global delivery teams to deliver scalable and efficient modernization solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Lead DeltaV Operate-to-DeltaV Live graphics conversion projects, including planning, technical solutioning, pilot execution, and deployment activities.
- Serve as the primary onsite technical lead in Indianapolis, partnering directly with client stakeholders and leadership teams to drive project success.
- Define and implement conversion strategies utilizing automation tools, migration accelerators, AI-enabled engineering solutions, and productivity-enhancing technologies.
- Facilitate technical workshops, requirements discussions, design reviews, and stakeholder meetings while providing guidance on modernization best practices.
- Coordinate global delivery teams, oversee technical deliverables, troubleshoot conversion challenges, and ensure alignment with project objectives, quality standards, and validation requirements.

What you need to have to be considered
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 9+ years of industrial automation experience, including hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV systems.
- Deep experience with DeltaV Live graphics development, DeltaV Operate-to-DeltaV Live migration programs, system upgrades, or large-scale DeltaV implementations.
- Experience leading automation projects, technical workstreams, or engineering teams within Life Sciences manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of GMP-regulated environments, validation processes, and automation lifecycle methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with pharmaceutical manufacturing clients and provide technical leadership to stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Experience coordinating globally distributed teams and managing technical scope, deliverables, and project execution.
- Knowledge of graphics conversion methodologies, scripting, automation tooling, and engineering productivity solutions.
- Ability to make independent technical decisions and provide guidance on complex migration and modernization challenges.

- Experience supporting DeltaV Operate-to-Live modernization programs at enterprise scale.
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled engineering solutions, automated conversion tools, or migration accelerators for automation projects.
- Hands-on experience with TypeScript, DeltaV Live Graphics Studio scripting, VBA, or script-based migration approaches.
- Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with Computer System Validation (CSV), IQ/OQ/PQ documentation, and compliance-focused project delivery.
- Experience driving engineering efficiency improvements through automation tools and workflow optimization.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $110,000 - $128,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
