About the role

As a Cybersecurity Architect – Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), you will make an impact by designing, improving, and operating security architecture and defense capabilities across complex cloud and hybrid environments. You will be a valued member of the cybersecurity team, working closely with cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to strengthen security posture and reduce organizational risk.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and implement security architectures across AWS and Azure environments, ensuring alignment with enterprise and regulatory standards

  • Lead and support advanced security operations, including monitoring, investigation, threat detection, and incident response

  • Develop and enhance detection capabilities across SIEM, EDR, and cloud-native tooling to improve accuracy and reduce noise

  • Drive incident response activities including triage, containment, remediation, and post-incident analysis

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to remediate vulnerabilities, harden systems, and reduce the overall attack surface

Work model:

We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days per week in a Cognizant or client office in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting. This may change based on business and client requirements. Rest assured; we will always be clear about role expectations.

What you need to have to be considered:

  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with progressive responsibility in security operations, architecture, or engineering roles

  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud security (AWS and Azure) including identity, networking, and native security services

  • Proven expertise in incident response, threat detection, and security operations (SIEM, EDR, DLP, email, endpoint security)

  • Experience with vulnerability management, risk assessment, and remediation tracking

  • Working knowledge of automation, scripting, or infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform, CloudFormation)

  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as NIST, CIS, or equivalent

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in information security, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

These will help you stand out:

  • Relevant certifications such as Security+, CySA+, GCIH, GCIA, AWS Security Specialty, AZ-500, SC-200

  • Experience with Zero Trust architecture, CNAPP/CSPM, IAM/PAM, and container security

  • Exposure to application security (AppSec) practices and tools

  • Experience supporting threat hunting, purple team exercises, or security automation initiatives

  • Experience working within critical infrastructure or highly regulated environments

We’re excited to meet people who share our mission and can make an impact in a variety of ways. Don’t hesitate to apply, even if you only meet the minimum requirements listed. Think about your transferable experiences and unique skills that make you stand out as someone who can bring new and exciting ideas to this role.
