About the role

As a Cybersecurity Architect – Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), you will make an impact by designing, improving, and operating security architecture and defense capabilities across complex cloud and hybrid environments. You will be a valued member of the cybersecurity team, working closely with cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to strengthen security posture and reduce organizational risk.

  • Lead and support advanced security operations, including monitoring, investigation, threat detection, and incident response

  • Develop and enhance detection capabilities across SIEM, EDR, and cloud-native tooling to improve accuracy and reduce noise

  • Drive incident response activities including triage, containment, remediation, and post-incident analysis

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to remediate vulnerabilities, harden systems, and reduce the overall attack surface

Work model:

We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days per week in a Cognizant or client office in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud security (AWS and Azure) including identity, networking, and native security services

  • Proven expertise in incident response, threat detection, and security operations (SIEM, EDR, DLP, email, endpoint security)

  • Experience with vulnerability management, risk assessment, and remediation tracking

  • Working knowledge of automation, scripting, or infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform, CloudFormation)

  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as NIST, CIS, or equivalent

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in information security, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

These will help you stand out:

  • Relevant certifications such as Security+, CySA+, GCIH, GCIA, AWS Security Specialty, AZ-500, SC-200

  • Experience with Zero Trust architecture, CNAPP/CSPM, IAM/PAM, and container security

  • Exposure to application security (AppSec) practices and tools

  • Experience supporting threat hunting, purple team exercises, or security automation initiatives

  • Experience working within critical infrastructure or highly regulated environments
