About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Functional Architect specializing in SAP S/4HANA Production Planning (PP) and Process Industries (PI) to design scalable solutions that optimize manufacturing and planning operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to improve planning accuracy, streamline production processes, and support sustainable business growth in a hybrid work environment.
Work Model: Hybrid – New Jersey
In This Role, You Will
- Design and implement advanced SAP S/4HANA PP/PI solutions to support efficient production execution in process manufacturing environments
- Configure and optimize production campaigns, including sequencing, capacity utilization, and batch management
- Develop and enhance Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes to align demand forecasts with supply capabilities
- Partner with stakeholders across production planning, procurement, and quality to translate business needs into scalable solutions
- Analyze current manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to reduce cycle time and operational risk
- Prepare functional specifications and collaborate with technical teams for development and testing
- Ensure seamless integration of PP with Finance for accurate costing, variance tracking, and reporting
- Oversee master data (BOMs, routings, recipes) to ensure consistency and planning accuracy
- Lead testing activities including system integration testing, conference room pilots, and end-to-end validation
- Support cutover and post-go-live stabilization with minimal business disruption
- Develop documentation, process flows, and user guides for long-term sustainability
- Partner with analytics teams to enable reporting on production performance and planning adherence
- Provide guidance on SAP PP/PI best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives
What You Need to Have to Be Considered
- 12–14 years of SAP experience with strong focus on S/4HANA PP/PI
- Hands-on expertise in production campaign configuration, batch management, and process orders
- Experience in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and demand-supply balancing
- Strong understanding of integration with Finance and Costing
- Expertise in master data design and governance for manufacturing processes
- Proven experience working in hybrid/global delivery environments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
These Will Help You Stand Out
- Experience in large-scale, enterprise SAP S/4HANA implementations
- Strong understanding of process industries (chemicals, pharma, CPG, etc.)
- Ability to drive transformation initiatives and influence business decisions
- Experience enabling analytics and reporting for manufacturing KPIs
Certifications Required
- SAP Certified Application Professional – SAP S/4HANA Production Planning and Manufacturing (or equivalent)

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $100,890 – $159,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program based on performance.
