The Sr Software Engineer B2 will design and enhance secure microservice based applications using Springboot and Core Java within a hybrid work model supporting day shift delivery. The role focuses on building resilient backend services improving system performance and collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver scalable enterprise solutions that help the organization serve customers and communities more efficiently.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $85,000/Year to $100,000/Year depending on the experience and other qualifications of the candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable Springboot based microservices that support high volume enterprise applications and ensure consistent performance across environments
- Develop clean modular and reusable Core Java components that enhance code maintainability and reduce long term technical debt for the organization
- Optimize application performance by profiling microservices identifying bottlenecks and tuning code queries and configurations to achieve stable response times
- Collaborate with product owners architects and peer engineers to translate business requirements into detailed technical designs and implementation plans
- Review code contributions from peers provide constructive feedback and ensure adherence to internal quality guidelines and coding best practices
- Integrate microservices with internal and external systems using secure APIs and ensure reliable data exchange across distributed components
- Implement robust error handling logging and monitoring within Springboot services to improve system observability and reduce mean time to recovery
- Coordinate with quality engineering teams to define test strategies and support creation of unit integration and regression tests that validate service behavior
- Apply secure coding practices across all Springboot and Core Java modules to safeguard data integrity and protect customer information in line with company standards
- Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines by configuring build jobs and resolving deployment issues in hybrid cloud environments
- Document service designs data contracts and operational runbooks to support smooth handover and ongoing maintenance across day shift teams
- Mentor junior engineers through pair programming design discussions and practical guidance to elevate overall team capability and delivery quality
- Participate in backlog grooming and sprint planning sessions to estimate work items and ensure realistic commitments aligned with hybrid work expectations
- Analyze production incidents related to microservices identify root causes and implement corrective enhancements that improve reliability and user experience
- Drive incremental refactoring initiatives that modernize legacy components into Springboot microservices thereby improving agility and reducing system complexity
Qualifications
- Possess solid hands on experience in designing and developing Springboot microservices including configuration of controllers services repositories and security modules
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Core Java concepts such as collections concurrency exception handling and functional programming to build robust server side logic
- Bring practical experience with relational or document databases including writing efficient queries and managing transactions to support data intensive services
- Exhibit familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools that enable consistent deployment of microservices across hybrid environments even if at a basic level
- Show understanding of RESTful API design principles including versioning validation and documentation to enable reliable integration with partner applications
- Display working knowledge of build and dependency management tools that support automated testing and deployment within enterprise scale delivery pipelines
- Value collaborative communication skills that enable effective coordination with cross functional stakeholders in a hybrid work model with day shift schedules
- Maintain a learning mindset by staying current with evolving Java frameworks and microservice patterns and applying relevant improvements to existing solutions
