ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Marketing Technical GEO Specialist to own the technical infrastructure that enables the brand's marketing content to be indexed, retrieved, and cited by AI engines. This role combines advanced technical SEO expertise with deep knowledge of how AI crawlers, structured data, and RAG architectures interact with marketing websites and content platforms. You will be the technical backbone of the GEO marketing team—ensuring that every marketing page, product listing, and brand asset is technically optimized for AI discoverability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement and validate structured data markup for marketing content—including Article, FAQ, HowTo, Product, and BreadcrumbList schema in JSON-LD—ensuring all markup passes Google Rich Results Test and Schema.org validation for marketing pages.

• Configure and maintain the llms.txt file and AI bot directive settings for marketing domains, including crawl permissions for GPT-Bot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and Googlebot-AI, to ensure optimal AI engine access to brand content.

• Audit and optimize marketing site architecture for RAG-friendliness, reviewing heading hierarchy, semantic HTML structure, passage length, and internal linking patterns to ensure marketing content is chunked and retrievable by AI inference engines.

• Conduct technical crawl audits of marketing properties using Google Search Console and AI-visibility tools to identify structured data errors, crawl anomalies, missing schema coverage, and indexation gaps affecting brand visibility.

• Liaise with the marketing technology and development teams to coordinate schema deployment and CMS template changes, ensuring all technical implementations are tracked, tested in staging, and released without disrupting marketing operations.

• Monitor AI bot crawl behavior on marketing properties to determine which pages are being actively retrieved by AI engines, surfacing insights on crawl depth, retrieval frequency, and content discoverability.

• Develop technical specifications for marketing content templates that embed AI-optimization requirements into CMS workflows, reducing the technical overhead for content and marketing teams.

• Assess marketing platform migrations, redesigns, and CMS changes for GEO impact, providing technical recommendations that preserve or enhance AI visibility.

• Partner with marketing analytics teams to connect technical GEO improvements to measurable outcomes in AI citation frequency and AI-referred organic traffic.

• Maintain documentation of all technical GEO implementations across marketing properties, ensuring knowledge transfer and continuity across the marketing organization.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• Advanced schema markup for marketing — expert-level JSON-LD proficiency across Article, FAQ, HowTo, Product, BreadcrumbList, and Organization types, with deep familiarity with Schema.org vocabulary in marketing content contexts.

• llms.txt and AI bot configuration — hands-on experience drafting and maintaining llms.txt directives and robots.txt rules for marketing domains, with specific knowledge of GPT-Bot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and Googlebot-AI behavior.

• RAG-friendly marketing site architecture — deep understanding of how RAG systems index and retrieve marketing web content, including passage chunking, heading-based segmentation, and semantic HTML landmark usage.

• Technical SEO and crawlability auditing for marketing — advanced proficiency with Google Search Console and log file analysis to diagnose crawl inefficiencies, canonical conflicts, and structured data validation failures on marketing properties.

• CMS and headless platform integration — ability to implement schema markup programmatically via marketing CMS templates or custom API pipelines, enabling scalable structured data deployment across large marketing page sets.

• AI-visibility diagnostic tooling — proficiency with Semrush AI Toolkit and server log analysis to monitor AI bot crawl depth, identify retrieval gaps, and validate technical optimizations on marketing sites.

• Marketing technology stack knowledge — familiarity with common marketing CMS platforms, e-commerce systems, and headless architectures relevant to enterprise marketing website management.
