Senior Cloud Security Engineer
About the role
As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer, you will make an impact by designing and securing scalable, cloud-native platforms across public cloud environments. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Platform & Security team and work collaboratively with engineering, DevOps, and enterprise security stakeholders to protect containerized workloads and applications.
In this role, you will:
· Design and implement Kubernetes security controls across platforms such as Amazon EKS, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), and OpenShift
· Develop and enforce policy-as-code frameworks using tools such as OPA/Gatekeeper and HashiCorp Sentinel
· Implement cloud security controls and governance practices across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments
· Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines to enable DevSecOps and automated remediation workflows
· Enhance cloud security posture using CNAPP tools (e.g., Wiz, Palo Alto Cortex) and drive continuous improvements in platform security and performance
Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a Cognizant office or client location in New York. What you need to have to be considered
· Strong experience in cloud security engineering across AWS, Azure, or GCP
· Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes security (EKS, GKE, OpenShift), including network policies and workload isolation
· Experience implementing policy-as-code using OPA/Gatekeeper or HashiCorp Sentinel
· Knowledge of CNAPP or cloud security posture tools such as Wiz or Palo Alto Cortex
· Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines and automating security controls and remediation
These will help you stand out
· Experience designing secure, multi-tenant Kubernetes environments
· Strong understanding of DevSecOps practices and automation frameworks
· Familiarity with incident response, vulnerability management, and root cause analysis
· Experience with observability tools (monitoring, logging, alerting in cloud environments)
· Proven ability to optimize cloud cost, performance, and security posture
Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $63,000 - $108,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
