Join a global technology organization as a GeoSpatial Developer Java focused on backend commerce solutions using BigCommerce and Adobe Commerce. In this office based role you will design and implement robust geospatial aware services that power online retail experiences. You will collaborate with cross functional teams to optimize data driven features that improve customer engagement and business performance while ensuring scalable and reliable platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services in Java that integrate geospatial data with BigCommerce and Adobe Commerce platforms to deliver accurate location aware experiences for end users.
- Develop and optimize geospatial data processing workflows that support store locator features regional catalog views and personalized content driven by user location and business rules.
- Configure and extend BigCommerce backend capabilities to handle complex geospatial queries ensuring efficient retrieval of location based inventory pricing and fulfillment options.
- Customize and enhance Adobe Commerce backend modules to incorporate mapping services spatial indexing and distance calculations aligned with performance and scalability goals.
- Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to translate geospatial use cases into technical designs that support seamless shopping journeys and measurable commercial outcomes.
- Implement secure and reliable APIs that expose geospatial functions to frontend and partner systems while maintaining consistent data models and robust error handling.
- Conduct code reviews and refactoring activities to maintain high standards for Java backend quality with particular attention to geospatial algorithms data structures and performance tuning.
- Create detailed technical documentation for geospatial services configuration patterns and deployment procedures to support maintainability and onboarding of future team members.
- Monitor application performance in the office based environment and apply targeted optimizations to geospatial queries caching strategies and background jobs for stable day shift operations.
- Collaborate with data and operations teams to validate geospatial datasets resolve data quality issues and ensure accurate representation of addresses regions and service areas.
- Support incident investigation and resolution for backend commerce services involving geospatial functionality while continuously improving observability and resilience.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating new geospatial libraries Java frameworks and commerce platform updates that can enhance customer experience and societal impact through better local service access.
- Align development practices with organizational standards on security accessibility and sustainability ensuring that geospatial solutions serve diverse communities responsibly.
Qualifications
- Bring strong experience in Java backend development with a focus on modular service design and reliable integration of geospatial components into commerce applications.
- Demonstrate hands on expertise in BigCommerce backend customization including configuration of data models extension of server side logic and integration with mapping or location services.
- Show practical experience with Adobe Commerce backend development such as creating custom modules managing entity relationships and implementing spatially aware business rules.
- Apply knowledge of relational or document databases with geospatial support to design schemas indexes and queries that efficiently store and retrieve location based information.
- Utilize solid understanding of RESTful service design testing practices and deployment workflows to deliver stable backend features within an office based day shift environment.
- Exhibit familiarity with geospatial concepts such as coordinates projections distances and polygons and use these concepts to implement features like store search delivery eligibility and regional promotions.
- Prefer experience with performance profiling tools logging frameworks and monitoring solutions that help maintain responsive geospatial services in high traffic commerce platforms.
- Value collaboration communication and inclusive problem solving to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams while keeping focus on delivering impactful customer and business outcomes.
Certifications Required
Preferred certifications include Java certification and Adobe Commerce developer certification relevant to backend commerce and geospatial solutions.
