Roles and Responsibility

  • Own the technology direction and roadmap for the technology assets for Contact Billing and Claims.
  • Strong understanding of GWCP (Guidewire Cloud Platform) releases and what Intact can leverage.
  • Strong understanding of vendors available in GW Market Place and how this marries up with IFC’s roadmap.
  • Collaborates closely with the senior leadership and principals to develop and implement strategic initiatives and roadmaps that drive innovation, enhance efficiency, and contribute to maintaining the competitive edge in the market
  • Lead the technical transition to the SAAS version of Guidewire.
  • Own the Platform performance, observability, quality, resilience, scalability and other aspects.
  • Serve as the technical authority and decision-maker for key architecture and design initiatives, especially those that are of high risk or new technology
  • Act as a Force Multiplier: Leverage your extensive expertise to enhance the productivity and effectiveness of the entire engineering team. Foster a culture of innovation and excellence by mentoring colleagues, streamlining processes, introducing best practices, and driving architectural improvements that enable the team to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently.
  • Hands on Keyboard technical proficiency. Serves as a trusted advisor, leveraging technical expertise to own and make strategic decisions and initiatives and plays an important role in elevating technical decision-making process and acts as a technological leader.
  • Promotes cross-team collaboration and drives technical direction across teams, functions, and products, ensuring decisions support overall business and technology strategy
  • Develop shared software engineering frameworks, APIs, and toolkits to streamline integration into production applications.
  • Define and enforce software engineering best practices, ensuring consistency across model development, deployment, and monitoring
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement and act as an agent of change by championing innovative ideas and initiatives to improve processes
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices, assess the potential impact of new technologies on the organization and recommend adoption strategies
  • Coordinate with Experts in various technical forums, both internally and externally. Recognized as an active member of the tech community and promotes technology within and outside the organization as a thought leader and contributing to advance IFC’s interests

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Compute Science, Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3+ years in technical leadership role
  • Extensive expertise in Guidewire, including in Billing Center and Claims Center, as well as SAAS versions of Guidewire. (Guidewire certification is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of software architecture principles and system design patterns and AI/ML concepts and frameworks
  • Deep expertise with Angular, Java, Spring, Spring boot, Database (SQL & NoSQL) and experience with Cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, and distributed systems
  • Proven ability to design scalable, resilient systems in production environments
  • Extensive knowledge of DevSecOps and observability tools.
  • Proven leadership in mentoring software engineers and building global technical communities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to bridge the gap between software development teams and business leaders.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
