Architect (Full-Stack Java)
About the role
As an Architect you will make an impact by designing, developing, and leading high‑quality enterprise applications for a major insurance client. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with product owners, architects, business stakeholders, and cross‑functional delivery teams.

In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise‑scale insurance portal applications across both frontend and backend components.
- Lead full‑stack development using Java, Spring/Spring Boot, GraphQL, and modern JavaScript frameworks to deliver scalable, high‑performance solutions.
- Serve as a technical lead/architect, guiding design decisions, development standards, code quality, and performance optimization across the team.
- Translate business requirements into robust technical designs and deliver production‑ready solutions in partnership with business and technology stakeholders.
- Support, enhance, and troubleshoot critical systems including payment processing (Lockbox, IVR), reporting platforms, and chatbot solutions.
- Integrate with and consume APIs (Guidewire/ACX, Tableau, Box) and document services using YAML/OpenAPI standards.
- Drive performance tuning, security remediation efforts (e.g., Veracode), and environment configuration across AWS and application servers.

What you need to have to be considered
- Strong hands‑on experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
- Full‑stack expertise with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern UI frameworks.
- Experience designing and integrating REST and GraphQL APIs.
- Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL, MariaDB, DB2).
- Experience building applications in insurance or financial services environments.
These will help you stand out
- Experience working in AWS cloud environments and configuring application servers.
- Prior experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
- Familiarity with tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI, Veracode, and modern CICD practices.
- Exposure to third‑party integrations such as Guidewire, Tableau, or Box.
Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until May 21st, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $95,000 - $160,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
