MSTR / SAP BusinessObjects (BO) Architect/Developer

Location – Preferred Poland, alternate – Spain or Sweden

Level C

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced MSTR / SAP BusinessObjects (BO) Architect/Developer with 5+ years of handson experience across MicroStrategy and SAP BusinessObjects to lead BI solution design, support the MSTR SEA teams reporting capacity, and drive critical platform optimization, architecture, and migration initiatives.

The role combines hands‑on development with solution architecture across MicroStrategy and SAP BusinessObjects — owning platform optimization, architecture redesign, migration, security hardening, and cost‑reduction initiatives while maintaining and enhancing reporting deliveries. The position plays a key role across all MicroStrategy and BusinessObjects projects, supporting a broad stakeholder base and contributing to the TDA R&V EMIC roadmap, as well as enabling internal resource transition toward Power BI Fabric / Copilot rollout support.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting & Delivery Support

· Support ongoing MicroStrategy and SAP BusinessObjects report development and regular delivery activities within the MSTR SEA team, ensuring business continuity and predictable BI output.

· Take ownership of assigned reporting workstreams, adhering to established delivery, testing, and documentation standards.

· Collaborate with business stakeholders, BI users, and delivery teams to ensure reporting solutions meet functional and performance expectations.

Platform Architecture, Review & Optimization

· Review existing MicroStrategy project configurations (including Very Large Database (VLDB) settings) and SAP BusinessObjects universes and semantic layers, identifying performance, scalability, and stability improvement opportunities.

· Define and own the target‑state BI architecture across MicroStrategy and SAP BusinessObjects, including semantic/metadata layers, universe design, and multi‑platform reporting standards.

· Propose and implement configuration updates where appropriate, aligned with platform optimization and risk mitigation goals.

· Lead analysis and documentation of the current MicroStrategy and SAP BusinessObjects platform setup, defining architectural adjustments and future‑state design.

Security & Access Management

· Review existing MicroStrategy and SAP BusinessObjects security roles, permissions, and access models; recommend and implement revisions where required.

· Analyze and simplify Access Control Lists (ACLs), ensuring compliance with security, regulatory, and internal governance requirements.

· Collaborate with stakeholders to validate security changes and ensure appropriate authorization without compromising usability or performance.

Testing & Quality Assurance

· Test re‑configured MicroStrategy and SAP BusinessObjects environments following configuration, security, or performance changes.

· Support and coordinate with other testers during testing phases, ensuring adequate test coverage and issue resolution.

· Assist in validating performance, security, and functional stability post‑changes and before production release.

Infrastructure & Cross‑Team Collaboration

· Work closely with and coordinate activities with the Infrastructure team, ensuring alignment on environment changes, deployments, and platform dependencies.

· Manage communication across BI, data, infrastructure, and security teams to support synchronized delivery and minimize operational risks.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

· Produce and maintain final technical and architecture documentation, including configuration changes, security models, testing outcomes, and operational guidelines.

· Contribute to knowledge sharing and documentation to support long‑term platform maintainability and reduce dependency on key individuals.

· Enable smoother internal resource transition toward Power BI Fabric and Copilot initiatives by stabilizing and documenting the MicroStrategy and SAP BusinessObjects landscape.

Required Experience & Skills

Mandatory

· 5+ years of hands‑on experience across MicroStrategy (MSTR) and SAP BusinessObjects (BO) development, architecture, and platform administration.

· Strong experience with MicroStrategy project configuration (including VLDB settings) and SAP BusinessObjects universe / semantic layer design, along with performance tuning concepts.

· Solid understanding of MicroStrategy and SAP BusinessObjects security models, roles, user/group access, and ACL design.

· Experience working in large, enterprise‑scale BI environments with multiple stakeholders and parallel initiatives.

· Proven experience designing and architecting enterprise BI solutions and multi‑platform reporting landscapes, including semantic / metadata modelling.

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to review, document, and propose improvements to existing BI platforms.

Desirable

· Experience supporting platform migration, modernization, or optimization initiatives.

· Exposure to cost optimization, platform downscaling, or performance efficiency programs.

· Experience with SAP BusinessObjects version upgrades or cross‑platform (MSTR ↔ BO) migration and consolidation.

· Familiarity with data platform landscapes and modern BI technologies (e.g., Power BI, Fabric).

· Experience working in regulated industries (banking, financial services, or similar).

Personal Qualities

· Structured, analytical, and detail‑oriented approach.

· Strong collaborator with the ability to work across technical and non‑technical teams.

· Proactive mindset with a focus on risk mitigation, stability, and continuous improvement.

· Capable of balancing regular delivery responsibilities with strategic platform support work.

Education

· Academic degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline,
or equivalent proven work experience in BI and data platforms.
