About the role:
As a Data Business Analyst, you will make an impact by enabling data-driven decision-making across insurance operations through analysis, insights, and quality assurance. You will be a valued member of the data and analytics team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders including underwriters, actuaries, claims teams, and technology partners.
In this role, you will:
Analyze insurance data (claims, policies, customer behavior) to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for business improvement
Gather and translate business requirements into clear functional and technical specifications
Develop dashboards and reports to support strategic and operational decision-making
Lead and execute testing strategies (system, integration, regression, UAT) to ensure data and application quality
Drive data quality, governance, and compliance initiatives across insurance platforms

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring a few days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, ON. What you need to have to be considered:
4–8 years of experience as a Data Business Analyst, preferably within the insurance domain
Strong experience working with insurance data (claims, underwriting, policy administration)
Proficiency in SQL and data analysis tools; experience with Azure DevOps or similar platforms
Proven ability to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
Hands-on experience with test strategy development and execution across multiple testing phases
Experience in data profiling, cleansing, validation, and ensuring data integrity
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business and technical teams
These will help you stand out:
Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
Knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance requirements
Exposure to data governance frameworks and best practices
Experience working in Agile delivery environments
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data quality and usability.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $ 98,000 - $ 110,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
