Gen AI Developer
About the Role
As a Gen AI Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge generative AI solutions that drive meaningful business outcomes. You will be a valued member of the AI & Data Engineering team and work collaboratively with data scientists, architects, and business stakeholders across the organization.
In this role, you will:
• Design, build, and fine-tune generative AI models and LLM-based applications to solve complex business problems.
• Develop scalable data pipelines and ML workflows using Python and libraries such as PySpark, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
• Integrate and optimize AI solutions on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and big data ecosystems including Hadoop and Spark.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define AI use cases, evaluate model performance, and iterate on solutions.
• Stay current with advancements in generative AI, contribute to best practices, and support knowledge sharing across the team.
Work Model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3-4 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, Ontario. What You Need to Have to Be Considered
• 5+ years of experience in IT related role
• Proficiency in Python and AI/ML libraries including TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and PySpark.
• Hands-on experience building or fine-tuning generative AI models, large language models (LLMs), or related AI applications.
• Experience with big data ecosystems such as Hadoop and Apache Spark for data processing at scale.
• Practical knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including deploying and managing ML workloads.
• Strong understanding of MLOps practices, model versioning, and the full machine learning development lifecycle.
These Will Help You Stand Out
• Experience with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or agentic AI frameworks.
• Familiarity with vector databases, embedding models, and semantic search architectures.
• Exposure to responsible AI principles, model explainability, and governance frameworks.
• Contributions to open-source AI projects or published research in the generative AI space.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex AI concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
