Senior Data Engineer – Snowflake & GenAI
About the role
As a Senior Data Engineer – Snowflake & GenAI, you will make an impact by designing and delivering modern, cloud-based data solutions that enable advanced analytics and AI-driven innovation. You will be a valued member of the data engineering team, working closely with clients, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders to build scalable data platforms and lead large-scale migration initiatives.
In this role, you will:
- Design and develop scalable data solutions using Snowflake, leveraging advanced capabilities such as Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe, and Dynamic Tables
- Lead and execute ETL migrations from Informatica (PowerCenter/IICS) to Snowflake, ensuring data accuracy and efficient transformation
- Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency in cloud environments
- Integrate Cortex AI and GenAI capabilities into data engineering workflows to enable automation and advanced insights
- Collaborate with stakeholders to drive solution design, architecture reviews, and delivery execution across distributed teams
Work model

What you need to have to be considered:
- Strong hands-on experience in Snowflake architecture and advanced SQL development
- Expertise in Snowflake native features (Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe, Dynamic Tables) and performance/cost optimization
- Proven experience with Informatica PowerCenter and/or IICS and large-scale ETL migration to Snowflake
- Strong programming skills in SQL (mandatory) and Python
- Experience working in client-facing roles with the ability to lead delivery and collaborate across onsite-offshore teams
These will help you stand out:
- Experience with Snowflake Cortex AI / GenAI capabilities and AI-driven accelerators
- Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Azure Data Factory, etc.) and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of modern data architectures and ELT frameworks
- Experience in onsite-offshore delivery models and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in data engineering practices

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between CAD 68,000 - CAD 117,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
