About the role
As a Senior Java Full Stack Engineer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, enterprise-grade digital solutions across backend and frontend platforms. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, platform engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to enable modern application development and platform innovation.
In this role, you will:
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across Java (backend) and React (frontend) development
- Design and deliver scalable microservices, APIs, and micro-frontend architectures
- Drive platform engineering initiatives, including internal developer platforms (IDP) to enable reusable services and developer self-service
- Implement enterprise integrations using API-led and event-driven architecture patterns
- Develop resilient distributed systems aligned with enterprise standards, security, and governance requirements
- Integrate GenAI capabilities, including AI-assisted development tools and agent-based frameworks, ensuring proper governance and guardrails

Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3–4 days per week in a Cognizant or client office in Charlotte, North Carolina or Irving, Texas. What you need to have to be considered
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering with a strong full stack background
- Strong proficiency in Java 17 and Spring Boot-based microservices development
- Proven experience building distributed systems, APIs, and microservices architectures
- Hands-on experience with React and modern frontend development practices
- Experience with enterprise integrations using API and event-driven patterns
- Exposure to or hands-on experience with GenAI technologies, including MCP or similar frameworks
- Strong understanding of SDLC governance, security standards, and regulatory compliance requirements
These will help you stand out
- Experience building and scaling internal developer platforms (IDP) or platform engineering initiatives
- Familiarity with micro-frontend architecture patterns
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and automation frameworks
- Strong collaboration skills working across architecture, DevOps, and platform teams
- Ability to influence technical direction and drive engineering best practices
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position depends on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
