Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled .NET Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable business applications using Microsoft .NET technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core/.NET Framework, and SQL Server development, with the ability to build high-quality, secure, and performant solutions. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, participating in system design discussions, optimizing database performance, and contributing to the full software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a passion for delivering reliable and efficient applications.


About the Role

As a .NET Developer, you will play a key role in developing and supporting enterprise applications that drive business operations. You will work closely with business analysts, quality assurance teams, and fellow developers to deliver innovative solutions that meet business and technical requirements.

In this position, you will be responsible for building and enhancing applications using C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core/.NET Framework, while also developing and maintaining SQL Server database objects, including stored procedures, functions, views, and tables. You will optimize database performance through efficient T-SQL development and query tuning, ensure adherence to coding standards through code reviews, and troubleshoot application and database issues as they arise.

You will also contribute to technical design discussions, support deployment activities, and help ensure that applications are secure, scalable, and maintainable. This is an excellent opportunity for a developer who enjoys working across both application and database layers and wants to make a meaningful impact on the development of enterprise-grade software solutions.

In This Role You Will

· Design, develop, and maintain applications using .NET technologies (C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core/.NET Framework)

o Develop and optimize SQL Server database objects including tables, views, stored procedures, and functions

o Write efficient, secure, and optimized T-SQL queries

o Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions

o Perform code reviews and ensure best coding practices and standards

o Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application and database issues

o Participate in system design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions

o Ensure application performance, security, and scalability

o Document technical designs and support deployment activities


Work Model

We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Richmond, VA. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

· 3+ years of experience in .NET development

· Strong proficiency in C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core/.NET Framework

· Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server

· Strong knowledge of SQL, T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and query optimization

· Experience with RESTful APIs and web services

· Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript (basic to intermediate)

· Experience with version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps, or similar)

· Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until June 22nd, 2026.

The annual salary for this position is between $46,000.00 - $75,000.00 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
