Cognizant is a large IT Consulting Firm that leverages modern technologies to transform a variety of business operations. Under supervision, the Insurance Billing Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and executing the full scope of billing operations, including complex account resolution, team oversight, and critical-level processing functions within Billing systems. This is a fully remote role for candidates living in the United States.
Role Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations
- Maintain effective relationships with external and internal customers
- Process basic billing functions which include but are not limited to: invoice generation, payment posting, account adjustments, and contact information updates
- Process new account records successfully within Billing systems
- Identify gaps or discrepancies in account balances
- Use Billing systems to determine account status and billing history
- Navigate and interpret data across multiple Billing and internal systems
- Process secondary level tasks which include but are not limited to: client emails, client escalations, disputed invoices, escalated collections accounts, and complex payment arrangements within Billing systems
- Draft and submit appeal or dispute documentation
- Understand the collections and recovery process as it applies to assigned accounts
- Process critical level tasks which include but are not limited to: aging accounts receivable error reports, write-off and bad debt reporting, loss of payment arrangement compliance, out-of-cycle billing reconciliation, and special projects
- Process payment reversal and returned item pass-back updates within Billing systems
- Complete missing account reconciliation and billing/payment discrepancy resolution
- Provides guidance, support, and oversight to team members
- Serve as a subject matter expert and point of escalation for complex billing issues
- Other duties as assigned.
Role Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 4 years of billing, accounts receivable, or collections processing experience
- Prior experience in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred
- PC proficiency to include Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking
- Ability to work scheduled hours. Overtime may be required including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Salary and Other Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is $20 per hour.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
