Job Summary

This role is for an application developer with three to six years of experience working on enterprise systems built using OOABL Progress OpenEdge Progress Database QAD MFG PRO Progress Corticon and Progress 4GL. The developer will design build and maintain robust business applications aligned to a global companys standards primarily in a day shift work from office environment without travel. The role may involve projects related to property and casualty insurance contributing to secure


Responsibilities

  • Develop scalable business applications using OOABL and Progress OpenEdge to support core enterprise processes and improve operational efficiency for the organization and its customers.
  • Design and optimize queries and procedures in Progress Database to ensure high performance reliability and integrity of transactional data used across critical business functions.
  • Configure and enhance QAD MFG PRO modules to streamline manufacturing and supply chain workflows improving throughput and reducing process friction for global operations.
  • Implement and maintain business rules using Progress Corticon to ensure consistent decision logic regulatory adherence and transparent rule governance across applications.
  • Write clean maintainable and well documented Progress 4GL code that aligns with established coding standards enabling long term application stability and ease of support.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including business analysts and testers to translate functional requirements into technical solutions that deliver measurable business value.
  • Perform debugging root cause analysis and defect resolution across OOABL and Progress components to maintain system availability and minimize disruption to business users.
  • Execute unit testing and support system and integration testing efforts to validate end to end functionality focusing on data accuracy performance and user experience.
  • Support production deployments and post release monitoring in a day shift work from office model ensuring smooth rollout and responsiveness to any application issues.
  • Apply secure coding practices and data handling standards within Progress technologies to protect sensitive information and uphold organizational security policies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to refactor code optimize queries or streamline configuration in QAD and related systems.
  • Document technical solutions configuration changes and operational procedures to strengthen knowledge sharing and support onboarding of new team members.
  • Adapt solutions for potential property and casualty insurance use cases by modeling policy claims and billing workflows in a way that supports accurate risk assessment and customer service.


Qualifications

  • Bring practical experience in OOABL and Progress OpenEdge development that demonstrates capability to deliver stable enterprise applications within agreed timelines.
  • Show strong hands on proficiency with Progress Database administration or development tasks including schema design indexing strategies and performance tuning activities.
  • Offer applied knowledge of Progress 4GL programming with emphasis on modular design error handling and testing discipline for complex business logic.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with QAD MFG PRO configuration or customization to support manufacturing inventory and distribution processes within large organizations.
  • Provide experience working with Progress Corticon or similar rule engines to define maintain and test business rules that align with functional and compliance requirements.
  • Exhibit understanding of property and casualty insurance concepts such as policy lifecycle coverage structures and claims handling that can be mapped to technical solutions.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders and team members using concise technical explanations and collaborative problem solving to drive successful delivery in a work from office day shift model.
