About the Role
As a Consulting Manager – Technical Support Engineer, you will make an impact by delivering advanced technical support for enterprise backup and infrastructure platforms. You will work directly with customers, partners, and internal teams to diagnose complex issues, optimize system performance, and ensure high availability across mission-critical environments.
This role combines hands-on technical troubleshooting with consulting leadership, requiring strong expertise in infrastructure, storage, networking, and cloud platforms, along with a customer-first mindset.
In this Role, You Will
Technical Support & Incident Resolution
- Provide advanced technical support for backup, storage, and infrastructure platforms, including cloud environments
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring adherence to SLAs and support performance targets
- Troubleshoot across operating systems, networks, storage systems, and enterprise applications
- Manage multiple concurrent customer issues, ensuring proper tracking and resolution
Customer Engagement & Support Excellence
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, partners, and field teams
- Deliver customer-first support experiences, including live troubleshooting and remote assistance
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences
Knowledge Management & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles
- Participate in product previews and contribute feedback for new releases
- Identify recurring issues and drive process and product improvements
Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and support teams to resolve escalations
- Mentor junior engineers and support team capability development
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and enablement initiatives
Platform & Infrastructure Expertise
- Support environments across Linux, Windows, virtualization, storage, and networking systems
- Work with technologies such as VMware, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and enterprise databases
- Perform root cause analysis, log analysis, and debugging across distributed systems
Work Model
Based on this role’s business requirements, this is an onsite position in New York, NY, requiring full-time presence at the client or Cognizant office. We support a healthy work‑life balance through our wellbeing programs.
What You Must Have to Be Considered
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise technical support or system administration
- Strong expertise in Linux and Windows environments
- Experience with networking (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls), storage (SAN/NAS), and system administration
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting enterprise infrastructure and production environments
- Experience supporting cloud platforms or hybrid infrastructure
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
These Will Help You Succeed
- Experience with backup and recovery platforms (e.g., Backup Exec or similar tools)
- Knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and containerization
- Familiarity with observability tools, APM, and system monitoring
- Experience in enterprise IT environments with multi-tier architecture
- Certifications such as CompTIA, Red Hat, Cisco, or cloud certifications

Compensation
- Base salary range : $110,000 – $129,500 annually, depending on experience, skills, and location
- This role is eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, subject to applicable plan terms
